In early 1994, US President Bill Clinton called a summit meeting of all democratically elected leaders in the Western Hemisphere--the Summit of the Americas to be held in Miami in December 1994. The NRTEE organized workshops in Washington, D.C., on July 11, 1994, (reported in v.1) and in Mexico City in October 1994 (reported in v. 2) in order to develop strategies to advance sustainable development prior to the Summit of the Americas (Declaration of principles and Action plan reported in v.3). PDS lacks v. 2 and 3 in the English edition and v. 2 in the French edition.
