Health Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship Program : summative evaluation report.: H14-209/2009E-PDF

Health Canada’s Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) Program offers individuals who have recently completed their postgraduate studies the opportunity to conduct research in Health Canada facilities under the mentorship of the Department’s research scientists. The PDF Program, which is administered by the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS), awards about ten two-year fellowships annually. Assuming that all awards are accepted and the fellows stay for the full two years, there would be up to 20 PDF fellows conducting research in Health Canada facilities at any given time. Treasury Board approved the resources and the terms and conditions for the Program in 2003. The Program’s authorities are due to expire in 2008-2009. In anticipation of a program renewal submission, and in accordance with the Policy on Transfer Payments, the OCS undertook a summative evaluation of the PDF Program.
