"The statistics are aggregates of the provincial government science surveys conducted by Statistics Canada under contract with the provinces, and cover the period 1982-83 to 1989-90. The surveys now cover nine provinces: Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Québec, Ontario, Hanitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia. For the national statistics, estimâtes are made for years not covered, and for the province of Prince Edward Island. " -- Foreword.
