Using the technique of "shift- and-share analysis", employment data from the Annual Census of Manufactures are placed in a convenient framework for analysis to facilitate comparisons between areas. The focus of this publication is on relative and absolute change in manufacturing employment in provinces and counties or census divisions over the period 1961 to 1970. This updates data published in two earlier issues for the years 1949-1959, 1961-1965, and 1961-1967. The 1961-1970 period was chosen to retain the 1961 base year, as used in previous publications, and to incorporate the most recent data available. |
