An overview of the data processing systems of the Canadian Labour Force Survey = Aperçu des systèmes de traitement des données de l'enquête sur la population active du Canada.: CS71-601/22-1979-PDF

“This paper begins with a description of the operational aspects of data collection in the Labour Force Survey since, as will be seen, several important elements of the design of the data processing system reflect these operational characteristics. The paper then proceeds to a description of the existing head office processing system used for the production of monthly estimates and reviews our experiences in the design and development of this system. Finally, presently anticipated improvements to the system are described and a brief overview of current and forthcoming activities towards the development of longitudinal data is presented.”—Introduction.
