“Japan is the second-largest fish and seafood importer in the world behind the United States and the top market in all of Asia. Japan’s fish and seafood import market was valued at C$17.7 billion in 2015, an increase of 5.1% from 2014. Japan’s supply is quite diversified, with fish and seafood products imported from 123 different countries. Japan’s top suppliers in 2015 were China (with an 18% share), United States (9.6%), Chile (8.2%), Thailand (7.2%), and the Vietnam (6.5%)”--Trade summary.
