520 |a“In this paper we analyze the categories, definitions and concepts used by federal, provincial and territorial governments, particularly statistics agencies, in collecting statistical data on the Inuit in the North. The concern addressed here is that the data gathered in the largest collections, such as the Census and the Post Censal Survey on Aboriginal People (APS), may not provide as accurate or complete a representation of the Inuit, their activity and conditions as could ideally be achieved. We explore the extent to which the categories of information gathered and the questions contained in the surveys limit the quality of the data received, and consequently, its usefulness for policy development”--Summary, p. 1.
