“This research project is part of a series of research projects which examines Aboriginal economies and Aboriginal economic development in 15 different Aboriginal communities across Canada. The goal of the research is to identify ideas and strategies, both traditional and innovative, which hold promise for bringing about improvement in the economies of Aboriginal communities and in the economic circumstances of Aboriginal peoples. The researchers examined a broad range of historical factors covering the Metis and the community of Regina. In addition, they gathered and analyzed demographic data which reflects the economic status of Metis in Regina. The research also examined and analyzed data regarding business development, Metis Institutional development, the current status of Metis rights and Metis political institutions.
