520 | 3 |a“The purpose of this report, then, is to shed some light on the matter of discrimination and other barriers faced by Aboriginal people in Canada, and further, to inform the Commissioners, to the best of our ability, of the very real existence of discriminatory employment practices and prejudicial attitudes that persist in spite of the wide-ranging programs, policies, and legislated standards that exist in this country. The report explores various programs and policies that exist; presents analysis of the effectiveness of these initiatives; takes a hard look at the kind of human interaction that negates such programs and policies; examines proposed intervention strategies; profiles the various players who should form partnerships for success; and makes recommendations that may present viable options for concrete action in response to the situation. Finally, findings expressed in the report are derived from literature reviews, experiential research, personal interviews, anecdotal evidence and what some might refer to as 'intuitive logic'”--Intro., p. 3. |
