"Bulletin XI of the Census and Statistics Office, which is a report on and statistics of occupations of the people of Canada compiled from data of the Census of 1901. ... The records of Bulletin I of this series, compiled in 1906, were made for each person employed in any industrial or other occupation who was paid salary, wages or other money allowance for his, or her service, whether employed on piece-work or by time, in a factory or office, at home or elsewhere. It showed the whole number by sex and occupation to be 736,549 males and 186,042 females. ... In this Bulletin account is taken of the occupations of the people only, irrespective of earnings or time employed. The number is 1,615,431 males and 250,698 females, of which 30,839 are males and 11,126 are females under 16 years of age"--leaves [iv-v].
