520 |a"This report presents the results of 48 small-scale fire resistance tests conducted at the National Fire Laboratory on insulated and non-insulated, small-scale, gypsum board protected wall assemblies. Four assembly arrangements were studied: symmetrical installation 1x1 (one layer of gypsum board on both the exposed and unexposed sides); asymmetrical installation 1x2 (one layer of gypsum board on the exposed side and two layers of board on the unexposed side); asymmetrical installation 2x1 (two layers of gypsum board on the exposed side and one layer of board on the unexposed side); and symmetrical installation 2x2 (two layers of boards on each of the exposed and unexposed sides). The effects of gypsum board orientation, resilient channel installation, type and thickness of insulation in the wall cavity, stud type, mass/unit area of regular gypsum board, presence of glass fibre in regular gypsum board core, cellulose fibre insulation application method, and cavity depth on the fire resistance of wall assemblies were investigated"--Executive summary, p. ii.
