| 520 | |aThe current paper looks at another aspect of the Toronto Harbour Commissioners' responsibilities, the Toronto Island Airport, which the THC has operated and managed since the facility was established in 1939. The report is presented in three parts. The first describes the Airport's origins and history, noting significant changes that have occurred at various stages of its development, including the 1961 capital program, the introduction of scheduled services in the 1970s and of Short Take-off and Landing Aircraft (STOL) in the '80s, and the signing of the 1983 Tripartite Agreement amongst the City of Toronto, the Toronto Harbour Commissioners, and the federal Minister of Transport. |
