"Infiltration of soil gas into basements is a cause of indoor air quality problems. Very little research has been conducted on air quality concerns that specifically relate to preserved wood foundations (PWF). This report documents the findings of a field study that examined the air leakage characteristics of preserved wood foundations. The study also investigated the level of "off-gassing" from the chemicals used for wood preservation in PWF basements.
