Summary report : the economic impacts of ancillary housing expenditures / Peter Dungan, Peter Norman.NH15-495/2000E-PDF

"This study develops up-to-date estimates of the economic impacts of a variety of housing-related ancillary expenditures. It is intended to complement an earlier series of studies commissioned by CMHC in 1997/98 that estimated the economic impacts of basic housing construction and renovation. In the present case, economic impacts are obtained for ancillary expenditures (rather than direct construction) from three related types of housing expenditure: initial construction preparation (hereafter, ‘new construction’), the sales of newly-constructed dwelling units held in stock, and the sales of existing dwellings. A variety of ancillary expenditures are considered, including, where possible, infrastructure and land development, selling costs, professional fees and financing"--Summary, p. i.
