"Pointe-au-Père National Wildlife Area (NWA) was created in 1986 to protect a tidal cordgrass marsh and coastal areas used by migratory birds, including a number of shorebird, waterfowl and waterbird species. This protected area is located on the south shore of the Lower Estuary of the St. Lawrence, in the city of Rimouski (Pointe-au-Père district), approximately eight kilometres northeast of downtown. This document is the first approved management plan for Pointe-au-Père NWA. It will be implemented over a 10-year period in accordance with priorities and available resources"--P. iii, iv.
