As consumers of complex goods and services we are exposed on a daily basis to problems of product safety, fair trade practices, product quality and dispute resolution. Most of the time we can resolve the problem ourselves - through discussion and compromise and without the help of law. Sometimes, though, we cannot. We need the help of law both as a benchmark and as a basis for action. We expect the law in these cases to be readily accessible and reasonably responsive.
