"This Bulletin, No. XVII of the series, gives in a preliminary statement fhe classification of the population as single, married, widowed and divorced by sex for Canada and the provinces. There is also a relatively small number of persons, for whom the Enumerator could not obtain the Information as to their marital condition, included under the heading "Not Stated". Of the total number (9,149) thus reported in the last Census, 7,825 were Chinese residents of Canada absent on "Registration" at the Census date with permission to return to Canada within a specified period without loss of residential rights in Canada"--p. [1].
