Digital geoscience atlas of Baie Verte Peninsula, Newfoundland and Labrador / T. Skulski ... [et al.].: M183-2/7342E-PDF
"Baie Verte Peninsula occurs in the northern Appalachians of Newfoundland and is underlain by the ancestral continental margin of Laurentia, and an accreted (Taconic) Cambrian oceanic tract (ophiolite) and its Ordovician volcano-sedimentary cover. These were intruded by Ordovician to Silurian granitic plutons and coeval volcanic cover during the Salinic Orogeny. There is a long history of mineral exploration and mining on Baie Verte Peninsula including copper-gold mines in ophiolite strata and gold mines in the ophiolite cover. To assist in the understanding and exploration of this geologically diverse region, this digital geoscience atlas, a companion output to previously released geological maps, contains georeferenced datasets including new and compiled bedrock geology, compiled structural geology, geochronology, lithogeochemistry, metallogeny (mines and drilled prospects), reprocessed aeromagnetic survey data (governmental and industrial), a digital elevation model, and base-map data. These data are compatible with a number of GIS platforms, including ESRI's ArcReader free viewer”--Summary provided by publisher.
