"This report presents comparable occupation and industry statistics from the decennial population censuses. Although différences in definition of the worklng population, in the occupational and industrial classifications, and in enumeratlve and processing techniques have lessened comparability between statistics of 1951 and. earlier census years, useful comparisons are possible by broad occupation groups for the period 1901-1951 and by selected occupations and industries for the period 1931-1951"--p. 1.
