"Over the past 20 years, the Canada Council for the Arts has provided direct support to Aboriginal artists and arts organizations through a number of targeted programs. In recognition of this 20th anniversary, the Canada Council decided to undertake an evaluation of the suite of Aboriginal Arts programs (i.e. dedicated programs with a mandate to serve Aboriginal artists and arts organizations) available at the Canada Council. Through a comprehensive two year evaluation, the story of how this investment has served Aboriginal artists, organizations and communities since 1996 is told. ... This document represents the Final Summary Report. It summarizes the findings from all lines of inquiry, addressing the relevance of programs, accomplishments and impacts on Aboriginal artists and arts organizations. Conclusions and directions for the future are included.
