The purpose of the FIORP is to set out the key guiding principles and operating procedures for the identification and response to multi-jurisdictional foodborne illness outbreaks in order to enhance collaboration and coordination among partners, establish clear lines of communication, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of response. It is not intended to provide detailed instructions on how to conduct investigation and response”--Purpose, p. 4.
