"The University Student Information System (USIS) is a database that provides a Canada-wide system of university enrolment statistics. Files are available back to the 1972-73 academic year. The information for this system is collected on an individual student basis. This approach has allowed for great flexibility of the data thus enabling us to undertake analysis which could not be done prior to the development of the system. To introduce the same degree of flexibility into the area of graduation statistics we have, in 1974, extended the USIS - Enrolment to cover the collection of graduation statistics on an individual student basis"--p. 5.
