520 | 3 |a"Some estimators for small areas are evaluated in the context of producing Census Division level by Major Industrial Division estimates, using the unincorporated data compiled at Statistics Canada (on a sample basis) and Revenue Canada (on a 100% basis for some economic items). Several of the collected variables are candidates for small area estimation, but we will focus on wages and salaries. Gross Business Income, available from Revenue Canada on a 100% basis, is used as auxiliary information, in order to obtain reliable estimates of total Wages and Salaries. In addition to the usual estimators proposed in the literature (Gonzalez 1973, Schaible 1979), composite estimators which are combinations of the synthetic estimator and direct domain estimator are studied. In particular, the composite estimators - proposed by Särndal (1981), and Fay and Herriot (1979) are investigated, via a Monte Carlo simulation"--Abstract. |
