Broken coins & paper promises : currency of Ferryland, Newfoundland in the 17th century / by Paul S. Berry.: FB4-19/2010E-PDF

"This paper will review the monetary conditions in 17th-century colonial Newfoundland as revealed primarilly through finds from recent excavations at Ferryland. In particular, it will examine those pieces that have been unearthed since 2002, and the extend to which they support or call for a reinterpretation of earlier views on this subject (Berry 2002). Included is a catalogue of numismatic artifacts from the exhibit Broken Coins and Paper Promises, at the Currency Musuem, Bank of Canada from 24 July to 13 December 2009"--Introd., p. [2].
