On smoothed estimates of unemployment rates from Labour Force Survey data / S. Kumar and J. N. K. Rao.: CS11-616/85-79E-PDF

"Smoothed etimates of unemployment rates are obtained by fitting a model to survey estimates of cell proportions in a two-way table. The smoothed estimates are shown to be considerably more efficient than the survey estimates, especially for cells with small samples"--Abstract.
