As compared with a similar uranium-free steel, there was an improved resistance to crevice corrosion for steels containing 0.24% and 0.55% uranium. However, reproducibility of the results was poor; none of the alloys tested performed well, and it was concluded that uranium additions cannot be relied upon to suppress crevice corrosion attack in Type 430 stainless steel"--Abstract, p. i. |
