| 520 | 3 |a“Tests were conducted to determine the effects of uranium additions in the optimum range of about 0.25-0.5% on the resistance to crevice corrosion of AISI Type 430 stainless steel when immersed in sea water. As compared with a similar uranium-free steel, there was an improved resistance to crevice corrosion for steels containing 0.24% and 0.55% uranium. However, reproducibility of the results was poor; none of the alloys tested performed well, and it was concluded that uranium additions cannot be relied upon to suppress crevice corrosion attack in Type 430 stainless steel"--Abstract, p. i. |
