5203 |a"Information for the Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) is collected in two waves: socio-demographic information is collected during the Labour Force Survey (LFS) interview week, and one week later the information on total income and its sources is collected from LFS respondents. The socio-demograpbic information is available for all individuals in the SCF sample. Records without income information are considered nonrespondents for SCF and in this context are treated as SCF nonrespondent units. Missing income values are imputed for all nonrespondent units in order to obtain a complete file. It is planned to collect earnings information (one component of the total income) as a part of the LFS redesigned questionnaire. However, at the time of this study this information was not available. Hence, the complete SCF file including declared and imputed income (as proxy for the earned income) was used in this preliminary study to model nonresponse and determine the profile of SCF nonrespondents. Another objective of this pilot study was to form classes with homogeneous response probabilities that can be used for weight adjustment to account for SCF unit nonresponse"--Abstract.
