"We begin with a brief summary of some background studies and workshops sponsored by CEARC to develop a better understanding of the concept of cumulative effects assessment and an evaluation of current practice in Canada and elsewhere. Based on this review, some immediate research, needs are identified. Finally, we present the Council’s agenda for CEA research, set in the context of its overall strategy for improving performance and practice of environmental assessment in Canada.
