"In November 1986, the B.C./Yukon Regional Office presented a proposal to the CMHC Management Committee which advanced the view that life tenancies could improve the affordability and marketability of purpose built housing for elderly people and stimulate private sector interest in developing markets for such housing. The Committee responded by setting up a Life Tenancy Task Force with a mandate to examine the potential of life tenancies in Canada"--Introd.
