Field evaluation of foundation drain response / prepared by CH2M Engineering Ltd.: NH17-153/1989E-PDF
"A study was carried out in Edmonton during the summer of 1989 to monitor the response of foundation drain flows to simulated rainfall events. The simulated precipitation was based on 50-year return period design storms. The quantity of water applied was recorded and the foundation drain response was calculated based on sump pump running time records. The calculated response varied from 0.07 to 0.49 L/s over 19 simulations. Data collected in the field testing were input into a foundation drain response model previously developed by CH2M HILL. This report also discusses foundation drain design allowances, discharge alternatives, and sump capacity"--Abstract.
