"This report presents the results of an initial study of the channels through which goods manufactured in Canada are distributed. The statistics included in this report relate only to the first stage of distribution from the factory to consumer, either industrial or household or to a wholesale or retail merchandising firm. The further distribution of goods by middlemen is not covered in this report but information on wholesale and retail trade is obtainable from other reports of the Census of Merchandising and Service Establishments"--p. 1.
