"This Treasury Board Information Technology Standard (TBITS-12) adopts the Codes for the representation of currencies and funds as specified by the National Standard of Canada CAN/CGSB-200.6-87 for use by the Government of Canada. As such CAN/CGSB-200.6-87/ISO 4217 is to be considered an integral part of this document. The objective of this standard is to provide a set of codes for the representation of currencies and funds that will promote consistency and uniformity in the exchange of data both inside and outside the federal government"--Purpose, p.
