Interprovincial wholesale commodity survey, 1990 / Statistics Canada, Industry Division, Wholesale Trade Section = Enquête inter-provinciale sur les marchandises vendues en gros, 1990 / Statistique Canada,...: CS63-542/1993-PDF
“This report presents the results of the 1990 Interprovincial Wholesale Commodity Survey (IWCS). This is the first survey which describes the type of commodities handled by wholesale merchants. While there was a special survey carried out by Statistics Canada in 1979 (Origin and Destination of Goods of Merchandising Establishments, 1979; Statistics Canada, Catalogue No. 63-540, Occasional) which described the geographical movements of total shipments, until now, there has been a complete absence on goods supplied through the sector. The long delay is explained by the reluctance of Statistics Canada to impose on wholesale businesses the burden of supplying information which is not readily available to them through their normal accounting practices. Nevertheless, the need for such information, for a wide variety of uses both in the wholesale industry itself and for national/provincial accounting and economic analysis purposes, had become so pronounced that the present survey was undertaken"--Introd., p. xiii.
