"The two commonly used derivatization techniques, namely, (1) direct in situ derivatization with sodium tetraethylborate and (2) tropolone extraction followed by ethyl Grignard derivatization for the determination organotin compounds in mussels were compared and evaluated with respect to their recoveries from spiked samples and a Reference fish tissue. These methods are used in our study of concentrations of butyltin compounds in mussels in Canadian harbours and rivers"--Management perspective.
