Heartland Area Redwater Project (HARP) – phase 2 / [Office of Energy Research and Development].: M159-16/2013E-PDF

"This project was designed to demonstrate the feasibility of safe CO2 storage in the Redwater Leduc Reef located near the Alberta Industrial Heartland region, northeast of Edmonton. This storage site is close to several existing and planned large industrial sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including chemical and fertilizer plants and several oil sands upgraders. Preliminary work estimated the total storage capacity of the saline aquifer portion of the reef to be one gigatonne of CO2"--Project description.
