"DS-Lea Consultants was awarded an Affordability and Choice Today (A • C • T) grant to assist with research into environmental site assessment requirements for lands intended for residential uses. The prime purposes of this research project were: to examine environmental legislation and regulations and comment on the City of Winnipeg’s jurisdictional responsibilities for environmental screening processes; to examine municipal response to environmental screening of development applications in six other Canadian cities; to examine the City of Winnipeg’s land development approval process with respect to current practices on the assessment of potential environmental risk; and to make recommendations regarding environmental assessment and screening within the developmental approval process in Winnipeg"--Introd., p, 1.
