Integration of Canadian farm and off-farm markets and the off-farm work of women, men and children / by Ray D. Bollman and Pamela Smith.: CS11-0019/16E-PDF

"To understand the integration of the farm family with the off-farm economy, it is important to analyse the farm business situation separately from the farm family situation. For the farm family, income from off-farm investments and income from off-farm jobs are both becoming relatively more important contributors to farm family income. We note that one off-farm factor - hight interest rates - has had a negative impact on farm business income while simultaneously having a positive impact on the income of some farm families."--Abstract.
