"In the spring of 2017, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) released a performance audit to determine “whether RCMP members had access to mental health support that met their needs,” with a focus on the following two elements of the “RCMP’s 2014–2019 Mental Health Strategy: early detection and intervention, and continuous improvement.” The OAG notes that it did not “audit the overall success of the RCMP Mental Health Strategy,” nor did it “directly examine the causes of members’ mental health conditions.” On 31 May 2017, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Accounts (the Committee) held a hearing to study this audit.
