520 | |a"This paper reports on an investigation of the enzyme serum corbital dehydrogenase (SSDH) as a fast response indicator of liver damage in trout when exposed to organic contaminants by either waterborne chemicals or intraperitoneal injection. It was found that SSDH levels in blood could: i) easily be measured; ii) were unaffected by storage of serum for 30 days or more; iii) were linearly correlated with toxicant dose (exposure) of fish; iv) provide an early indication of liver damage; v) may be useful to assess the impact of chemical contaminants on fish'--Exec. summary. |
