Census of welfare institutions, 1951 = Recensement des institutions de bien-être social, 1951.: CS83-D-50/1953-PDF
“The first official statistics covering Charitable, Benevolent and Welfare Institutions in Canada were collected as part of the Decennial Census of 1931. The results of this survey were published in Volume IX of the Report of the Seventh Census of Canada, 1931. It was later decided to make similar survey of these institutions at five-year intervals. Accordingly, special censuses of Charitable, Benevolent and Welfare institutions were taken in 1936, 1941, 1946 and 1951. Due to wartime economy measures, the 1941 and 1946 reports were published in a single volume. The present volume is therefore the fifth in this series of quinquennal reports”--Preface, p. [1].
