"Coal has been mined on a small scale for domestic use in north-central Alberta for many years. More recently a large strip mine has been operating at Wabamun Labe approximately 25 miles southwest of Alexander Indian Reserve #134. The subbituminous coal from this deposit is used as fuel in Calgary Power's thermal-electric plant at Lake Wabamun"--Purpose of investigation, p. 3.
