Leading causes of death by major age groupings / Dominion Bureau of Statistics, Health and Welfare Division, Vital Statistics Section.: CS84-503/1957E-PDF
"The official vital statistics of Canada are published annually in a comprehensive report which sets out in some detail current and historical data on births, marriages, deaths and natural increase. However the form of presentation dictated by the reference nature of the annual report often precludes the proper portrayal of separate important aspects of mortality or fertility. The Dominion Bureau of Statistics accordingly includes as part of its programme of statistical services the publication of a series of supplementary analytical reports, such as the present, designed to provide a more penetrating view of selected aspects of vital statistics data. The present report focusses separate attention on the mortality hazards which apply with strongest force to each of the three major stages of the life span — youth, middle age and old age”--Preface, [3].
