The study focuses mainly on dryland grain farms with some land in fallow. The relation between the ratio of summerfallow to cultivated area (called summerfallow intensity) and the following nine variables is examined: farm cultivated area, farm organization, land tenure, age of operator, days of off-farm work, fertilizer and agriculture chemical expenses, machinery value and gross farm sales. Data are analyzed by soil zone, a proxy for soil moisture. Cross tabulation and correlation are the statistical tools used"--Abstract. |
