"In 1991, petroleum-contaminated soil was encountered beneath a bulk petroleum storage facility at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, Petawawa, Ontario. Several conventional soil remediation options were presented to the Department of National Defence (DND). In collaboration with Environment Canada, DND decided to proceed with bioremediating the petroleum contaminated soils using an aboveground bioreactor system"--Executive Summary.
