Transcript of the Prime Minister's remarks at the Vancouver Liberal Association dinner : Seaforth Armories, Vancouver B.C., August 8, 1969.: R32-429/1969E-PDF
"Let us remember that man's conquest of the moon is in itself, it is a great thing but it is neutral as to the future of humanity. When Columbus discovered America he didn't solve Europe's problems, he perhaps compounded them. And now that man has discovered the moon it hasn't solved man's problems because the great discoveries, and we must all work together in that direction, the great discoveries are discoveries in the minds and the hearts of men"--p. 14.
