"On November 16 and 17, 1995, the European Forum for Urban Safety (EFUS) and the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime (ICPC) convened a meeting under the theme, Safer Social Habitat, in Montreal, Quebec, to address the growing crime and insecurity problems faced by public housing communities across North America and Europe. The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) provided funding for this meeting. The Société d'habitation du Québec provided local support"--Executive Summary, p. 2.
