"Next Step and Family Violence: An evaluation of the Next Step Second-Stage Housing Program was initiated by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in early 1996. The Next Step Program provided funding for non-profit groups experienced in family violence to establish Second-Stage Housing (SSH) for women who have left an abusive relationship, and who have (usually) stayed at an emergency or first-stage shelter (FSS)"--Exec.
