Supplementary Retirement Benefit .: V49-7/18-2013E-PDF

"If you are a seriously disabled Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Veteran approaching the age when most people would be considering retirement, you may be concerned about the pension income you can expect to receive. Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) recognizes that you may have made lower pension plan contributions over the years because you were not able to work. For that reason, VAC developed the Supplementary Retirement Benefit to compensate for this shortfall. It’s a lump-sum cash award, designed to offset the effects of your reduced pension contributions due to your service-related disability"--p. [1].
