"For the first time in Canada purchase and possession of a federal permit were required of persons hunting migratory birds for sport during the 1966-67 hunting season. This paper presents the background and describes the development of the permit system, outlines the mail surveys which sample the universe of hunters who have bought Canada migratory game bird hunting permits, briefly describes the parts survey which provides estimates of the species composition of the retrieved kill in each province and gives examples of the results of the system"--Abstract.
