Estimating a reference elevation for the 1999 U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration bathymetry map of Lake Ontario, Ontario / C.F.M. Lewis, B.J. Todd, and S.E. Hayward.: M183-2/8366E-PDF
“Sounding data from a 1974 expedition aboard MV Martin Karlsen on Lake Ontario are compared with water depths in a 1999 bathymetry map published by U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to establish the reference elevation used by the map-maker. The reference elevation found was 74.0 metres above sea level, identical with the datum used by the Canadian Hydrographic Service for navigation charts in Lake Ontario between 1955 and 1985. The reference will be used to estimate the elevation of geological features beneath Lake Ontario for comparison with the elevations of onshore features”--Provided by publisher.
